Dubai’s ZAAZ Wellness & Beauty Spa

March 22, 2021

Located in Dubai’s Jumeirah neighbourhood, a coveted residential enclave near sandy beaches, ZAAZ Wellness & Beauty is a spa designed by interior design firm VSHD Design Dubai to engage the body, mind and soul. Spread across two floors, with a total floor area of 2,500 square metres, its interiors is rooted in minimalistic modern elements, yet beautifully converging Moroccan and Berber heritage to convey a collective calm.

Designed to provide ancient Moroccan beauty and wellness treatments by homegrown brand ZAAZ, VSHD seeks inspiration from traditional design features, but with a modern twist to keep the space relevant.

The spa is dressed with traditional Moroccan and Berber architectural and design elements to denote Moroccan culture and history, with a particular focus on elements from southern Morocco.

The design took a year to complete, founded on custom heritage items such as Tadelakt, a waterproof plaster made in Morocco for the hammam on the second floor. VSHD commissioned the use of Zellij tiles, which can be found throughout the spa to provide authentic experience of a Moroccan spa.

Without the use of rich Moroccan colours, ZAAZ designed a spa that overflows with modern subtlety and simplicity. Attention is paid to the beauty of the materials, the lighting, lines, and proportions inherent in each spa. The result is a compelling composition that offers a sense of peace, serenity, and escape.
