The Factoria
Over the past few years, Hypothesis has been growing and diversifying its practice with regards to its design scopes as well as project types. Our growth inevitably requires us to find a bigger home. We found this old warehouse in 2017, and that was when The Factoria began.
The existing warehouse, once an automobile facility, located in the heart of Bangkok in Sukhumvit 26, is now injected with new programs: a canteen, a bar, a fabrication lab, an art studio, and design offices. The renovation primarily uses simple steel structures with glass panels to create programmatic spaces that sit along the periphery of the warehouse and face an open court in the middle. The interior court can serve a range of temporal programs - dining, working, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, even weddings and fashion shows. It is populated with movable metal racks and loose furniture which can be reconfigured into different layouts based on different activities. The warehouse becomes a creative production house - catering for various artistic pursuits that take place within, hence the name The Factoria , which means a factory in Latin.
