“Weaves of Legacy”
Project Title: “Weaves of Legacy”
Project Type: Corporate Office
Completion Date: JUNE 2022
Project Location: i-City Golden Triangle, Shah Alam, MALAYSIA
Area: 162,000 sq ft
The Brief:
The Client, Malaysia's largest bank by assets, is relocating a portion of its operations to i-City Golden Triangle financial hub in Shah Alam, Selangor. It is to be the additional alternative site for the entire banking group for resiliency and business continuity, ensuring the group’s operations and service delivery are not disrupted in case the current office were to be impacted by prolonged negative events such as the pandemic or a natural disaster. Thus, we were engaged to design the permanent alternate office, which occupies 14 floors of a Green Building Index-certified Grade A tower, spanning 162,000 sq ft to accommodate 1,400 employees.
The Solution:
The office of a banking group which has presence all over ASEAN countries should also get its inspiration from the roots of these nations. A common wavelength among these cultures is that each has its own local weaving-fabrics and their distinctive motifs – a very communal and approachable representation that aptly ties back to the bank’s core philosophy, which is to Humanise banking and finance. Thus, weaving together into one modern workplace that built on strength of characters reminiscent of this region. Creative, but never excessive. This includes subtle details and furnishings with modern inspirations of various tactile weavings patterns. Using natural, locally-relevant materials, and with a muted living colour palette that allow spaces to feel positive and cosy. Thus, ensuring a workplace that feels human and right at home – conducive whether for professional work, private or social exchanges.
