Kuala Lumpur Office Building Combining Nature and Urban Life

April 21, 2022

The third Menara Hap Seng Tower by Sachi Interior Design is a beautiful and practical commercial complex that complies with the highest industry requirements, including Grade-A office building, GBI accreditation, LEED Gold certification, and MSC zone. It also bagged the third place in the ASPDA Award Public Category last year.

The tower’s interior architecture is built around the concept deriving from urban nature into a sleek contemporary architectural form. This project comprises a 26-storey office building with five levels of retail and F&B units, 20 floors of office space, and one level of roof-top F&B outlets. There are also six levels of basement parking.

The interior design concept for the building was inspired and drawn from nature. By symbolically emulating the growth of vegetation within an urban building, the interior creates a sense of peace and brings life into working spaces. This is a one-of-a-kind feature that sets it apart from other office developments in the urban centre.

An approximately 90-metre high interior vertical green wall within the building’s internal atriums allows indirect natural light to illuminate the internal office spaces and provide visual comfort for all tenants on every floor. Construction materials such as stones, aluminium claddings, glass panels, and other elements offer a sense of space. Adding instant visual height, this feature naturally draws the eye upwards.

The designers introduced reflective materials within the quiet matte finishes with proportionately yet random patterns from ceiling to wall and floor. This feature replicates the appearance of water puddles after the rain in order to create a sense of vibrancy.

The open baffle ceiling, with its random placement of light fittings, casts an intriguing play of light and shadows. Simultaneously, it simulates the sense of natural lighting passing through the gaps between branches and leaves.

“This lively yet subtle design approach throughout the internal spaces within the building forms a poetic journey of storytelling to be experienced by end-users and visitors,” stated Sachi Interior Design on their design rationale.
