Call For Entry: Sansusī Forest Food Court

January 13, 2023

The Sansusī festival combines rock festival atmosphere and excitement with classical chamber music. The festival’s organisers are ready to build a sustainable food court that will not only meet visitors’ demands but also perfectly encapsulate the distinctive essence of the event.

The Competition

The Sansusī Forest Food Court competition is being run in partnership with the festival, tasking architects and designers to design a food court that would serve as the centre point of the festival. The food court would have to accommodate three caterers, each of which would need to have a space of 3x3m to work in.

Competition Programme

  • 3x caterer’s workspaces (3x3m)
  • Eating zone/s (solutions for sitting and eating)
  • Small storage space for caterers

The Building Programme is flexible, open to modifications and improved development strategies.

Project Proposal Requirements

Construction Process

  • Cost-effective, environmentally responsible construction
  • Minimal/No excavation
  • Buildable by up to 10 volunteers with limited construction knowledge
  • Construction time 3-5 days
  • In case parts of the structure would need to be prepared/made off-site, logistics should be considered and explained

Finished Structure:

  • Low maintenance in terms of effort and costs
  • Resistant to rain and wind
  • Environmentally responsible

The project qualities listed above are minimum requirements; the competition brief is open to adaption and improved development strategies.
