Fantin: Hug Table Collection

March 17, 2023

The Hug tables designed by Giulio Iacchetti have introduced round tube frames into the Fantin collections. Featuring original solutions at the joints, they perfectly reflect the corporate identity of a company that is renowned for functional products with exceptionally clean-cut looks.

Joints play a crucial part in structures of all kinds; although they are not usually conspicuous and sometimes not even visible at all, they give structures stability and solidity. Giulio Iacchetti focused on them when contemplating the designs for the new selection of Hug tables by Fantin, which is a specialist manufacturer of metal furnishings and accessories.

The name of the collection comes from the way in which Iacchetti managed to join together the slightly slanting round tube legs and the horizontal frame with the same cross section, which lies directly under the table top. The frame literally hugs the legs, clinching them in the curves running around its outline. The joints comprehensively perform their structural role while also giving the tables a highly distinctive look.

The horizontal frame also serves as a support for a set of three additional accessories, all made of metal—a bag hook, a tray, and a pen holder—that can be attached and moved freely thanks to its convenient placement just below the top.
