Award-winning multi-disciplinary designer Prof. Keat Ong launched his new book titled Injecting Architecture on 26 October 2022. A second-time author, Keat is the founder of Singapore-based Keat Ong Design (KOD) and the president of the Asia Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA). He is also the immediate past president of the Society of Interior Designers Singapore (SIDS).
Injecting Architecture showcases design methodologies for designers to explore and extract the three-dimensional quality of a given space, allowing one to stretch the imagination and execute design from an alternative viewpoint. Architecturally-trained Keat uses some of his selected projects across different typologies from retail, hospitality, food & beverages, institutional, office to residential spaces to illustrate multiple methodologies.
“This book is written over the course of three years,” said Keat. “It details my interpretation of the use of space and serves as a resource and exploratory guide for designers seeking fresh perspectives in their design journey.”
Dr. Larry Ng, Registrar of the Board of Architects of Singapore congratulated Keat on his new book. In his speech, Larry took the opportunity to laud Keat’s ongoing effort in driving new initiatives to elevate the local and regional interior design industry, as well as connecting designers across geographies in his various appointments as president of design societies over the years.
The launch was attended by many key design figures and stakeholders in Singapore’s design industry. Internationally-acclaimed designers including Steve Leung, Neri Lyndon, Vipavadee Pao Patpongpibul and Lai Siew Hong conveyed their congratulations via pre-event recordings that were played during the launch.
The occasion also marked the official opening of SCKD’s research and development lab, jointly launched by KOD and Sky Creation Design, a design and build company, to deliver the best in design and artisanship to their esteemed clients.

An esteemed designer in Asia, Keat Ong was named Asia’s Top Designers in Singapore Design Awards 2014 and Designers of the Year 2016/2017 by INTERIOR DESIGN magazine.
