The Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) celebrated its 60th founding anniversary on October 5th, 2024 at the historic Centro de Turismo Intramuros. The event was a grand gathering of design luminaries, industry partners, and esteemed guests, all gathered to commemorate the organisation’s rich history and unwavering commitment to design excellence.
The evening was hosted by PIID’s esteemed Board of Directors, including National President Paolo Castro, National Vice President Cyndi Fernandez-Beltran, National Secretary Jose Enrico Santiago, National Treasurer Lorenzo Valencia III, and Executive Directors Carla Leonor, Rossy Rojales, Katherine Correa, Carmel Lim-Regala, and Christine Villamora. Joining them were the Council of Fellows, the Council of Interior Design Educators, PRC Interior Design Board members, and key industry partners and collaborators including Intramuros Administration, Oppein, Wilcon depot, Genteel Home, Adaptive Luxsource solutions, Hardware Museum, Boysen, Furnitalia, Vertiflute, Dexterton, Endo Lighting Source, Cedarside Industries, Ernestomeda, Euroasia, Wallcrown, Metrotiles, Gessi, North Diamond, 220 Taps & Tiles, Poliform, StileItalia, Daikin and Kuysen.
The venue, a beautifully reimagined space within the former San Ignacio Church, served as a fitting backdrop for an evening that celebrated the rich tapestry of Philippine design. The event highlighted PIID’s remarkable journey, marked by significant milestones that have shaped the landscape of the Philippine Interior Design industry.
Since its inception in 1964, PIID has been a driving force in the professionalisation and advancement of interior design in the Philippines. The organisation’s unwavering dedication has led to the establishment of the first Interior Design Licensure Examination in 1983, the recognition of PIID as the official Accredited Professional Organization (APO) for interior designers in 1992, and the landmark passage of the Philippine Interior Design Act (R.A. No. 8534) in 1998.
