RIBA Architecture Festival Asia (RAFA) in Shenzhen

September 10, 2025

The inaugural RIBA Architecture Festival Asia (RAFA) will take place in Shenzhen, China, from 16–18 December 2025, positioning itself as a landmark event for architects, designers and built-environment professionals across the Asia-Pacific region.

Organised in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the festival seeks to foster global dialogue on sustainable urban development, architectural innovation, and design excellence. Held in the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center (Bao’an), one of the largest convention venues in the world, RAFA promises a dynamic three-day programme that highlights keynote talks, interactive workshops, live design reviews and building tours of Shenzhen’s iconic landmarks.

A defining feature of RAFA will be the launch of the RIBA Asia Pacific Awards, a new initiative celebrating projects that demonstrate design innovation, sustainability, and positive social impact. These awards are expected to set a new benchmark for architectural recognition in the region, offering a global stage for Asia-Pacific talent.

Complementing the festival is Connexion Shenzhen, a large-scale trade exhibition showcasing the future of the built environment. Covering more than 300,000 square metres, the exhibition will bring together global and regional exhibitors presenting advancements in green building materials, smart construction technologies, digital tools and sustainable design solutions.
