Yamagiwa Unveils a New Colourway for the Taliesin® Series

June 9, 2026

Yamagiwa Corporation, a Japanese lighting company, announces the introduction of a new color, Taliesin White, within the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright® Collection. The new finish will make its debut at three days of design in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 10–12 June 2026.

Originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Taliesin series is known for its clear architectural structure and the rhythmic interplay of light and shadow. This new finish reflects a reconsideration of material and tone in relation to contemporary spaces, while maintaining the essence of Wright’s original design.

The chestnut structure is reinterpreted through a white finish that retains the presence of the wood grain, allowing the sculptural silhouette to remain intact. The layered boxes and shield plates continue to produce a distinctive composition of geometric light and shadow, offering a new expression within the existing series. Available in three sizes as floor and table lamps.

Taliesin Series

The Taliesin series, originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, reflects his approach to organic architecture, where structure, material, and light exist in a unified relationship.

Composed of layered rectangular wooden boxes and reflectors, Taliesin 2, 3, and 4 create a warm, filtered glow. The concealed light sources reduce glare while producing soft indirect illumination, and the openings between the forms allow shafts of light to emerge, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The result is lighting that transforms with its surroundings, functioning as both illumination and a quiet architectural presence.

Partnership with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation

Yamagiwa works in collaboration with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to manufacture and reissue Wright’s lighting designs, grounded in extensive research and documentation, preserving their original character while making them suitable for contemporary use.

Since becoming an official licensee in 1992, Yamagiwa has produced these works in Japan and distributed them internationally, maintaining a long-term partnership based on technical expertise and a shared commitment to Wright’s legacy.

A portion of the sales from the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection supports the preservation of Wright’s cultural and World Heritage sites, contributing to the continuation of his architectural legacy. Through this ongoing collaboration, the Taliesin series continues to evolve, carrying forward the relationship between light, material, and space.
