April 4, 2023

The inaugural Manila Interior Design Summit of the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) will take place on April 11 and 12, 2023. Themed “Designing the Future”, the summit will feature a Creative Walk, a two-day CPD seminar, and the launch of the APSDA Awards to celebrate the future of design, society, and creativity.

Distinguished speakers from the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Singapore, including Prof Keat Ong, President of the APSDA, will be present at the summit to address questions surrounding the future of design. By bringing together professionals and enthusiasts from all backgrounds and cultures, the summit aims to establish a dynamic and rewarding atmosphere for learning, networking, and professional development in the field of design.

On April 10, a PIID Creative Walk will take place in collaboration with the BGC Art Foundation. The interactive walk is open to all PIID members, allied professions, and students who wish to study and understand the valuable role of art in creative cities. A photo contest will serve as a culminating activity, and an outdoor PIID Exhibition will be installed at the open grounds of the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre. To showcase the now and the future of Philippine Design, Arts, and Crafts, PIID sought out Rita Nazareno and Gabby Lichauco to install the PH Arts and Crafts Exhibition at the Nutriasia Lobby. A variation of home and lifestyle products will be showcased to inspire and ignite creative dialogues and collaborations between creative industries. Participants will have the chance to meet and network with other industry professionals, exchange ideas and insights, and explore potential collaborations.

On April 11 and 12, the GRN META: Metamorphosis of Green Spaces two-day CPD seminar will take place. The two-day conference is being held for interior designers, architects, and related professionals to examine methods and best practices for creating a sustainable future. The programme emphasises the value of cooperation among various built environment designers, suppliers, and stakeholders and focuses on eliminating waste, cutting energy use, and using environmentally friendly products. This is to inspire and equip professionals with the knowledge and tools they need to create sustainable spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, while also promoting environmental responsibility and social equity.

In addition, PIID has worked with a few collectives to showcase, support, and encourage Filipino talent and vision.
