MINIMO

This contemporary minimalistic designed single family residence located within the established neighbourhood of Bukit Mertajam exemplified the nature of simplicity, focusses entirely on essential shape and form with monochromatic colour palette. The existing ground floor layout has been repositioned entirely, section of walls has been omitted and interior spaces has been extended where necessary to optimize cross ventilation and natural daylight as an exercise to promote natural cooling. Spatial zoning has been applied throughout the house to differentiate between social, work and private zones through the use of transparent and translucent glass doors. The range of materials was limited to have a cohesive theme, natural Italian marble floors, dark wenge wood, porcelain tiles in shades of grey, white and black in its purest form. The building gains expressive force through the interaction between interior and exterior spaces. What is not there was superfluous; What is there is necessary: a basic principle of minimalism.
