The Sis Kata
The SIS Hotel
Designed by Oracle Architects an established and rapidly expanding international architectural design studio with a local office in Phuket, and a new office in Bangkok slated to open later in 2017, The SIS is the latest brand new 200 key hotel to open in trendy Kata Phuket.
The SIS offers everything that one would expect of a state of the art modern 5 star hotel whilst managing to create a mood of “modern orient” with clever architectural references to nature and themed geometry. The result is a visual but digestible feast for the guests and a practical and efficient lay out for the staff and management.
Immediately on entering the hotel there is a feeling of calm serenity overlaying a pleasant energy. The open plan lobby evokes a sense of space, with generous ceiling heights and a cleverly orientated space that allows natural fresh airflow to pass through the nucleus of the hotel. Easy rising sloped walk ways allow easy access to every facility that the hotel has to offer, whilst retaining intrigue by crafting intimate individual zones for the guests to enjoy.
The elevators are located in an easily accessible but unobtrusive space and transport the guests to the upper levels opening on to spacious gantry corridors overlooking a beautifully landscaped courtyard. Oracle Architects have created a design that avoids the clumsy claustrophobia of standard hotels by maximizing usable transitioning space between the rooms and hotels services.
The top floors of the hotel again offer easily accessible cascading levels, incorporating a luxuriant seductive free form infinity pool with signature geometric patterns and lush tropical landscaping inspired by rice terraces. The poolside and sun decks are designed to offer the maximum view vectors over the famous Kata sunset and beach below. The realistic astro turf on the generous sunroof top sun decks contrasts perfectly with skillfully created color tones of the formwork, providing multiple layers of interest for the guests to enjoy. The design provides flexible space that allows for intimate use or large-scale functions. The main roof top restaurant and bar grant uninterrupted views across the pools and sun decks that in turn overlook the stunning Kata beach, ocean, the benevolent mountains of Kata and Karon.
There are a number of room types to suit a range of preferences and budgets ranging from deluxe rooms to full private pool access suits. The use of vibrant color tones, high ceilings, light color free form built in wooden furniture creates a playful but relaxing energy conducive to relaxation.
On the lower levels accessed by an intriguing gateway stairway, Oracle Architects have created a different vibe that works in synergy with the rest of the hotel. The lower pool area draws inspiration from an oasis with focus being on the central pool and super Jacuzzi that provides energy and movement to the centerpiece. The design incorporates lighting that emulates the night sky and cosmos above that provides the inspiration for the name of this sector “ Sky Something”
The SIS represents a perfect synergy between the form and tone of the building and the surrounding environment.
