Voilà by Alessandro Andreucci and Agape

Alessandro Andreucci and Agape unveil a new concept of retractable storage cabinets with pivoting mirrors, for equipped walls that feature practicality and elegance in equal measure.

Voilà transforms at the lightest touch, instantly expanding the available space. Perfect for even the smallest rooms, Alessandro Andreucci’s new design for Agape brings the concept of the equipped wall into the bathroom.

The idea is to liberate the bathroom and its aesthetic from the clutter of the countless objects normally used in the space, concealing them from view in a roomy yet minimalist storage unit that includes a new set of features. Its subtle presence creates an overall clean visual, allowing the other elements of the bathroom (such as the bathtub or sink) to fully express the beauty of their own structures and materials.

An invisible hinge and pin connect the storage unit to a mirror that pivots at two points along its vertical axis. A simple touch is all that is needed to rotate the mirror, revealing in the space behind, shelves, towel hooks, storage spaces, 220 volt power outlets and integrated LED lighting.

Its carefully designed proportions create a spacious interior where everyday bathroom objects and accessories can be stored close at hand. From the outside, Voilà is compact and sleek. Clean lines and a reflective surface, backlit by the LED lights built into the sides, add additional room to the space.

Alessandro Andreucci, who shares Agape’s vision of the bathroom as an architectural space where individual elements dialogue amongst themselves while freely expressing their own characters, explains: “Typically, a storage unit will contrast with the purity of the other elements in the space, and with their need for empty space around them. With Voilà, the idea is to conceal everything behind an element that is pure in form yet also able to perform various useful roles: it is both a mirror and a cabinet, and a simple gesture is enough to rotate the piece and switch from one function to the other.”

With its sleek lines and mirrored surface, Voilà nearly blends in yet also becomes an architectural element in its own right, creating movement and perspective with a rhythmic series of columns for a functional, furnished wall.

The Voilà system, made of wood in natural oak, brown oak or dark brown oak finishes, is available with two versions of the interior: one with a towel bar, three shelves and two enclosed storage spaces, the other with a door serving as a towel rack, three shelves and two enclosed storage spaces.
