A workspace is shaped by relationships, movement, and possibilities that evolve over time. This is where NII’s idea of work takes form: not as a function, but as a shared experience. Born within ITOKI, which for more than a century has observed and interpreted the evolution of professional environments, NII chooses Milan and Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026 for its first appearance outside Japan. From April 21 to 26, at Hall 22, the brand opens a dialogue with the international design community.
The starting point is a clear vision that defines ITOKI’s approach: We Design Tomorrow. We Design Work-Style. Within this framework, NII takes shape, translating this vision into a first collection articulated into four product families, each entrusted to a distinct design voice. The studio AMDL CIRCLE, led by Michele De Lucchi, works through layers and micro-architectures. Todd Bracher, Rodolfo Agrella and Jun Aizaki / CRÈME, instead, bring into the workspace a more fluid sensibility, connected to gesture, relationship, and the possibility of reconfiguration.
What emerges are systems designed for work environments and public spaces, developed around the concept of Ingenious design: furniture that does not prescribe use, but suggests it. Adaptable modules, surfaces that encourage encounter, and theatrical settings defined by elements capable of supporting work without rigidly framing it.
Under the creative direction of Hirotaka Tako, NII builds on ITOKI’s legacy—summed up in the principle Tech × Design Based on PEOPLE—translating it into a research-driven approach in which design becomes a tool for research and evolution.
“We design ingenious furniture intended to foster communication, collaboration, and imagination in shared spaces,” Tako explains. Furniture that energizes teams and creates places where people meet, interact, and move fluidly within the space.
